Sarah & Tim

We are a young, caring couple who have been married for 2 years and together for nearly 10 years. We look forward to starting a family and hope that you can help make our dreams come true.

About Us
We both love being active and outdoors, so it seems fitting that our first date was a long skate on the canal in January 2010. We met through a mutual friend, Bernie, who is very near and dear to us both. He and Tim are like brothers.
Six years later, Tim proposed on Valentine’s day. It was very romantic! We got married on Sarah’s family farm in June 2017, surrounded by our family and closest friends.
We’ve always known that we were unable to have biological children, but have always wanted a family and know that we were meant to be parents. We are in awe of your courage and strength in considering adoption. We will love your child with all of our hearts and will provide them with a nurturing, safe home where they can grow to meet their potential and be themselves.
Our Interests
We love to have fun! We enjoy travelling with family and friends and spend a week every summer in Maine with all of Sarah’s family. Tim’s sister and her family live in Australia, so we don’t have to look hard to find a beautiful destination! When we’re home, we enjoy being active outdoors and spending time with our nieces and nephews.
We can’t wait for your child to join in the fun and adventures! From camping to building sandcastles on the beach in Maine, to exploring Australia and other parts of the world. There’s so much we look forward to doing with your child.

Sarah
I was born and raised Ottawa. For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a mom. As a child, I always tried to get my siblings to play house, but as the youngest of four, I rarely got to choose! I have a large tight-knit family and have many nieces and nephews. We all live within 15 minutes of each other, my brother and sister live right beside each other! Everyone in my family is a teacher, except for my sister and I, we work for the federal government. So we always have lots to chat about at our weekly Sunday dinners.
Growing up I loved playing sports, the violin, dancing, and being in the 4-H Club. But, basketball was by far my favourite and after playing for the Carleton University Women’s Basketball team I found my true calling - coaching. I’ve been a coach ever since. Mentoring young athletes and seeing them accomplish their academic, athletic, and personal goals, is especially rewarding for me. I’m grateful I’m able to leave a positive mark and contribute to their growth.
When I’m not coaching, I spend time with my nieces and nephews. I can’t wait to teach your child about different activities, sports, music and spend time at the farm!
Tim
I grew up in Muskoka, where my parents still live today. As my parents are retired, they come to visit us often and make an annual trip to Australia to visit my sister and her family. They can’t wait to have a baby around, in Canada!
Muskoka is known for it’s lakes and parks, so I was fortunate to grow up camping, canoeing, and fishing in some of the most beautiful places in Ontario. I enjoyed playing hockey but my heart was really with downhill skiing! I have fond memories of spending summers at my grandparents cottage with my whole familly. It was here that my Grampa taught me to swim and fish.
As we’re only two years apart, my sister and I have always been quite close. We’ve always travelled together. While she now lives in Australia with her husband and kids, we Skype often and visit each other yearly.
I can’t wait to teach your child about the beauty of the outdoors, how to build a fire, catch a fish and learn to ski!
Our Finances
We are incredibly fortunate to be in very good shape financially. We have stable, secure jobs, as a Financial Advisor and a federal government employee. We both have excellent medical, dental and drug coverage with our jobs and we have a very good life insurance plans. Your child will be assured a solid financial future.
Our Religion
Sarah was raised Catholic, Tim was raised non-practicing Protestant. We attend church on special occasions throughout the year, to celebrate and support our nieces and nephews’ milestones (baptism, first communion, etc.).
We do plan on baptizing your child and will raise your child with the core values of love, compassion and forgiveness. We will also raise your child to know and understand their culture and heritage and will ensure they participate and are immersed in it.

Our Adoption Views
Because you are considering adoption we know that you are filled with so much love and have great hopes and dreams for your baby. We are very excited to meet with you and talk about them. We will never forget the loving and selfless decision that you are making.
We would be honoured to share in the naming of your baby. If an open adoption is important to you, we will be enthusiastic partners. We’re excited about the possibility of visiting with you on an on-going basis and sending you regular updates on your child’s progress as they grow up. We would love to maintain communication through emails and/or phone calls.
We will gladly make a life book for you child as a treasured moment of their growing up. Sarah loves to make photo books, she is the family’s go to photographer, and can’t wait to make them for you!
We will always be honest with your child about their adoption. We will always recognize the gift that you have given us and ensure that your child is proud of who they are, and know that this decision was made out of profound love for them.
Our Parenting Beliefs
We hope that we will earn your confidence and respect in our parenting skills. With so many nieces and nephews and friends with children, we already have a lot of experience with kids of all ages. We will raise your child in a loving, happy, and supportive home. They will always know how much they are loved and how much joy they’ve brought to our lives.
We will encourage open, honest dialogue with your child so they feel safe and comfortable to talk to us about anything, without judgement. Their safety and happiness is our priority.
We do not believe that physical discipline is an appropriate tool, particularly when we teach your child love and respect for others. We will always discipline in a fair and honest manner. Our approach will be to use explanation, reinforce positive behaviour and to set a good example for your child to mirror. We do not believe in raising our voices, we believe that speaking in a calm voice is more effective and shows mutual respect.
We are fortunate to have an established network of support in town, with many close friends with children and family. In addition to having many cousins to play and growth up with, your child will have a strong network of friends and family who will love them and support them, no matter what.
Our Families
We are incredibly fortunate to have many close friends and family in town. All of Sarah’s family lives in Ottawa. Between her brother and two sisters we are lucky to have 3 nieces and 3 nephews that we seen often. We cherish our relationship with each of them and support them at every possible opportunity, whether it’s cheering them on at their various activities (sports, music, dance or 4-H) or simply spending the afternoon together at the park.
While Tim’s family isn’t in town, we keep in touch and see them often. We Skype and visit Tim’s sister and our Australian niece and nephew often, they are two of the most beautiful and energetic children.
We are also blessed to have a close knit group of friends that we consider family. Many of our friends have children that we see often and who consider us to be their “Auntie” and “Uncle”.
Your Child's Future
We both value education and will encourage your child to pursue higher education if they have the interest. However, while we value education, we do believe that learning through play and experiences is just as, if not more important.
We will expose your child to many different activities in their youth - including sports, music, art and dance, to help them develop confidence and skills. We celebrate everyone’s birthdays, milestones and accomplishments with a big family dinner - with all the aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. We believe it’s important to celebrate each child’s individuality and unique interests and helps build their confidence.
We will support your child in their interests and will encourage them to follow their dreams. Our top priority is that your child is happy and healthy - we want them to have a really good life. We will take regular vacations, travelling across Canada and overseas, exposing your child to different languages, cultures and experiences.
Being an employee of the federal government, Sarah will have a full year off of once the child arrives. Tim also plans on taking a month off. Sarah has the capability of extending maternity leave or returning on a part-time basis for up to 5 years. Your child will have many cousins to play with and many caring aunts, uncles and grandparents who are excited to welcome your baby into our family.
Our Home
We live in a bright, spacious home in a well-established neighbourhood. Our house is a war-time era, red brick single family home. We have a great backyard with a deck and beautiful cherry blossom tree. Tim’s favourite part of the house is our wood burning fire place, that would be perfect for your child to roast marshmallows in!
Our community is walkable with parks close by with play structures and we’re minutes away from a local beach and beautiful outdoor skating rink! We’re also blocks away from an elementary school and a high school.
We’re about a ten minute drive from the local children's hospital, where our sister-in-law works. We have a great tight-knit community. Every year, we close down the block for a festival, complete with bouncy castles and face painters for the kids!
Our Pet
We’re happy to share our home with our sweet and cuddly dog Buddy. We know your child will love him as much as we do! Buddy is a four year old lab-ridgeback mix. He absolutely adores our nieces and nephews and they love him just as much! He loves cucumbers and is best of pals with my sister’s golden retriever, Fergus!

Megan and Dean
"Megan and I have known Sarah for over 20 years and Tim for the last 10 years. They are both caring, funny, trusting and great to our daughters. They are thoughtful and generous to both Megan and I as well. We always looking forward to getting together to share many laughs. Sarah and Tim would make amazing parents and we are truly blessed to have them our lives."

"Sarah and Tim are the kind of friends who show up early to help you move and who never forget a birthday. Sarah has this beautiful maternal side; she’s great with kids, she knows how to quilt and she’s famous for her chocolate-chip banana bread. But then she’s also a tough, straight-talking basketball coach, with a wicked sense of humour. Tim has the most gentle and loving soul. He’s steady, dependable and gives great advice. He puts family and friends first and will never hesitate to lend a helping hand.
Our son absolutely adores his “Auntie Sarah” and “Uncle Tim”. Even though we’re not blood-related, he calls them Auntie and Uncle because they’ve been very good friends to us and we want him to have their positive influence as he grows up. Everything we know about them points to the fact that they will be loving, reliable and supportive parents."
Tash and Stevan
"Tim and SK are kind and gentle souls who have been among our closest friends for over a decade. In that time, we have known them to be a thoughtful, family-oriented, and caring couple. Their love for one another is apparent, and they have a strong bond not only between them but also with those near and dear to them. They have already touched the lives of many children and young adults through coaching and mentorship roles in the community, and within their extended families and circle of friends. We know of no couple better suited to being parents and role models capable of providing a safe, loving, and nurturing home for a child than Tim and SK."
Nashira and Rastko
I've known Sarah for more than 15 years, and we have known Tim, since they started dating nearly 10 years ago. Sarah is generous, loving, funny and supportive, with an innate ability to connect with and care for children. Tim is kind, helpful and easy going, and is always an instant hit with kids. Together they are a great couple, they provide balance and give strength to one another. They have lots of energy and love to give, which is demonstrated through their ongoing commitment and involvement in the lives of their friends and families.
Sarah and Tim have been involved in our kids lives since the moment they were born. They have not missed an event, even though we have lived in different cities. We trust them whole heartedly with our children, and have no doubt that they will make amazing parents, and provide a safe, stable and fun-filled home for future children.
